What are some things I can do to stay in shape without going to the gym?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer<\/strong>: It\u2019s great that you recognize how important physical activity is, and you want to fit exercise into your daily routine. As a <a href=\"https:\/\/togethercounts.com\">Together Counts\u2122<\/a> program partner encouraging healthy, active living, we know any time is a great time to focus on fitness. The USDA recommends that adults get two and a half hours of moderate physical activity every week, and it doesn\u2019t matter how you fit them into your schedule. A full 30-minute workout, two 15- minute sessions, or three 10-minute sessions per day for five days a week will help you reach that goal. You don\u2019t need to go to the gym for moderate exercise. In fact, walking at a quick pace is a great way to keep your body in shape! Here are some practical ways to add more physical activity to your daily routine.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Instead of searching for the closest parking spot, park farther away and walk briskly to the entrance.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the stairs over elevators and escalators.<\/li>\n<li>Go for a brisk 15-minute walk during your lunch break.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t use the drive-thru if you\u2019re not in a hurry. Instead, park and walk.<\/li>\n<li>Play with your kids \u2014 ride bikes, play tag or kick around a soccer ball.<\/li>\n<li>Do sit-ups, jumping jacks, or household chores during TV commercials.<\/li>\n<li>Instead of meeting a friend for coffee, invite him or her for a walk in the park.
