We support many community-based healthful eating and active living programs. Working with City University of New York, we’re identifying best practices and sharing new ideas. Through the Commitment to Healthy Communities (CHC), we conducted extensive assessments to measure the collective impact of community programs. We encourage cross-sector partnerships to promote healthful eating and active living.
Building a ‘Culture of Health’ requires the participation of multiple sectors … private industry, especially food and beverage companies,can be major contributors to building access with other stakeholders, such as community organizations and public health agencies.
– Robert Wood Johnson FoundationRun Jump Throw will teach kids ages 7 through 12 fundamental physical activity skills including warm-ups, proper running technique for sprinting and distance running, jumping and throwing skills. The program combines basic skill-building in a clinic format and culminates with a non-competitive track meet.
Troops for Fitness employs veterans across the country to teach a variety of fitness classes, like Zumba®, water aerobics and boot camp classes. Classes are available to community members for low cost, or even free. Working with the National Recreation and Park Association, program plans to engage 200 veterans in 12 cities nationwide.
Action for Healthy Kids, a nonprofit working to fight obesity and make all schools healthy places, delivers grants to implement the Breakfasts for Better Days™ program . “All children deserve to be healthy and ready to learn at the beginning of their school day,” said Rob Bisceglie, CEO of Action for Healthy Kids.

Fall Fitness Fairs focused on helping families in this military town learn more about living a healthy lifestyle.
