Three Tips to March Your Family Confidently into National Nutrition Month!

What are you most looking forward to in March? As the weather warms up there is definitely a lot going on. March not only brings the first day of spring and St. Patrick’s Day, but it is also National Nutrition Month. Don’t let the madness of March get in the way of your family’s healthy habits.

Incorporate these three tips into your routine to march into March on track with a healthy, active lifestyle.

1. Short on time getting dinner on the table? Try serving up a veggie packed stir-fry. This nutritious and easy meal can be prepared from items already in your cabinet, fridge and freezer and will also give your children an extra helping of veggies for the day.
2. Fit in Fiber! Fiber is important for colon health and digestion and it leaves you feeling full longer to fight off hunger pangs! Foods high in fiber are: oatmeal, whole grain cereal, whole wheat bread, fruits and vegetables.
3. Make it a family affair! Ask your child to help you prepare family meals. Depending on the age of your protégé, he or she can read the recipe instructions and measure and mix ingredients. Younger children might enjoy finding menu items in the fridge, preparing baking pans and taste testing. Incorporating the family in meal prep can keep everyone’s healthy habits in check.
