5 Ways to Get your Family’s Pumpkin Spice On this Month!

Fall is finally here! There is a crispness in the air and the scent of pumpkin bread and apple cider are probably filling your home.  Fall is also the perfect time for family outings in your community or getting active outside in your own backyard.Fall is finally here! There is a crispness in the air and the scent of pumpkin bread and apple cider are probably filling your home.  Fall is also the perfect time for family outings in your community or getting active outside in your own backyard.

1. Visit your local pumpkin patch. Pick up some small pumpkins (less mess) from the pumpkin patch to use for Punkin’ Chunkin’. Have the kids see how far they can throw them — winner gets crowned Punkin’ Chunkin’ Champion!

2. Take advantage of the cooler weather and get the family outside. Challenge the kids to a backyard game of soccer or football. Fall is also a great time to take a family walk or bike ride around your neighborhood.

3. Put the kids to work outside, but make it fun. Hand the kids a rake and whistle while you work. Don’t forget to jump for joy in the leaf pile when you’re finished.

4. Pumpkins are not the only star of October. Bring the whole family to your local apple orchard and fill up some baskets with this healthy fruit to snack on between Halloween treats.

5. Make those apples last longer by making home-made apple sauce. Bring the kids into the kitchen to help. They will love the job of mushing up the apples after they have been safely boiled on the stove by an adult and then cooled.
