Head of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Recognized by Forbes for Role in Fight Against Childhood Obesity

Congratulations to Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWFJ), for being recognized on Forbes’ list of The World’s Most Powerful Black Women for her leadership in the fight against childhood obesity.  RWJF is the nation’s largest philanthropy devoted exclusively to improving the health and health care of all Americans.  We applaud Dr. Lavizzo-Mourey’s dedication to helping all children and families eat well and move more.

The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation is working to promote ways to help Americans achieve healthy weight by balancing the energy (calories) they consume with the energy they expend through physical activity.  On May 17, 2010, HWCF manufacturing members pledged to reduce 1.5 trillion calories from the marketplace by 2015.  RWJF is supporting a rigorous, independent evaluation of how our efforts to reduce calories in the marketplace affect calories consumed by children and adolescents. RWJF will publicly report its findings.
