Stay Happy & Healthy This Summer!

With the kids home for the summer and all the fun outdoor activities, sometimes it can be difficult to keep those meals packed with nutritious fruits and vegetables. Check out these tips to sneak those extra veggies into your diet this summer.

Looking to keep the kids on a healthy track? Incorporate these activities into your schedules for a healthy summer.

1. Spice up your snack time with make your own fruit and yogurt parfaits. Lay out some colorful fruits and let the kiddos assemble this themselves. It makes for a fun activity and nutritious snack.
2. While hamburgers and hotdogs are a great go-to on the grill, try including a few skewers of chicken and veggie kabobs to add some color and nutrition to your meal. Zucchini and colored peppers tossed in Italian dressing also makes for a fresh side dish.
3. Looking for other ways to eat more fruits and veggies this summer? Check out these tips from our partners at Guard Your Health, including, “Don’t let leftovers go to waste! Turn fruit into a sauce or jam by throwing it in the blender or mashing it up with a fork. Save your vegetables from the trash by tossing them into soup, pasta, or a casserole. As with any leftovers, if the food is spoiled, throw it out.”
