Fitness Fridays in February

Even if the groundhog sees his shadow and predicts six more weeks of winter, stay active this February with your family. Living a healthy and active lifestyle is all about moderation and incorporating small steps to make lasting changes. This February, incorporate Fitness Friday into your family’s schedule and commit to getting active each Friday.

With 2018 underway, incorporate these tips into your family’s Friday schedule to keep living a healthy active lifestyle this winter.

1. Friday, February 2– Go ice skating. Nothing beats lacing up your skates and sliding around the rink. For more tips on ice skating this winter, check out this blog from our partners at Acivitytree.com.
2. Friday, February 9– Work out as a family to your favorite fitness video. There are plenty of options on YouTube or head to your local library and borrow your favorite Zumba or yoga video.
3. Friday, February 16– Take a hike, literally! Bundle up and get outside on a nearby trail or stay out a little longer on a family walk around the neighborhood. Check out our partners at Rails-to-Trails to find a local nature walk.
4. Friday, February 23– Play basketball. With March Madness right around the corner, take this last Friday of February to brush up on your hoop skills. Whether your family prefers playing a game of horse or practicing free throws, this is a great activity to expend some energy.
